Frequently asked questions about board and train

How much training will my dog receive each day?

Your dog participates in multiple structured training sessions throughout the day. Training is incorporated into everyday routines, not just dedicated sessions, so your dog is constantly practicing good behavior in real-life situations.

Will my dog interact with other dogs?

Only if it's appropriate for your dog's temperament and training goals. Dogs that benefit from socialization participate in carefully supervised group play, while others receive one-on-one exercise and training to ensure they are set up for success.

What if my dog isn't friendly with other dogs?

That's completely okay. Not every dog needs to play with other dogs. We tailor each training plan to the individual dog, and dogs that are reactive or uncomfortable around others receive individualized training and carefully managed exposure when appropriate..

Will my dog leave the property?

Yes. As your dog progresses, we incorporate training in real-world environments. This may include visits to dog-friendly stores, parks, downtown areas, and community events to help your dog learn to remain calm and obedient around everyday distractions.

Will my dog learn commands or real-life behavior?

Both. While we teach obedience commands, our primary goal is helping your dog make better decisions in everyday life. That means learning how to behave calmly at home, on walks, around guests, in stores, and in distracting environments.

What training methods do you use?

We use balanced, fair, and individualized training methods based on each dog's needs. Our goal is to clearly communicate expectations while building confidence, reliability, and a strong relationship between you and your dog.

Will my dog be kenneled all day?

No. Dogs have a balanced schedule of training, exercise, enrichment, play, rest, and potty breaks throughout the day. Rest is just as important as activity because it allows dogs to decompress and retain what they're learn.

What should I bring for my dog's stay?

Please bring your dog's regular food, any medications they need, and any required veterinary documentation. We'll provide guidance before your dog's drop-off so you know exactly what to pack.

Will my dog be fully trained when they come home?

Training doesn't end when your dog goes home. It starts there. We'll give your dog a strong foundation and teach you how to maintain and build on that training for long-term success.

What happens when I pick my dog up?

Your go-home lesson is one of the most important parts of the program. We'll teach you how to communicate with your dog, maintain their new behaviors, and continue building on the foundation they've learned during training. We will also have two follow up lessons to ensure proper implementation and provide further guidance.

How will I know how my dog is doing?

We provide regular updates so you can see your dog's progress throughout their stay. You'll also receive hands-on instruction at pickup as well as two follow up lessons so you understand how to continue your dog's training at home.
